HeyGears Unveils G1 Series: The World’s First Desktop Full-Color 3D & UV Printer

HeyGears, the Guangzhou-based company that dominates China’s dental 3D printing market with roughly 60 percent share, has unveiled the G1 Series — a desktop platform that consolidates full-color 3D printing, 3D texture printing, and 2D UV printing into a single machine.

Billed as the “world’s first desktop full-color 3D and UV printer,” the G1 Series includes two models: the entry-level G1 and the flagship G1X. The system is now available for reservation with a refundable $50 deposit ahead of a planned Kickstarter launch in July 2026.

One Machine, Three Workflows

The G1 Series targets a persistent pain point in digital fabrication: fragmented workflows. Traditionally, creators have relied on separate devices for structural printing, texture application, and surface decoration — a process that increases costs, complicates maintenance, and adds significant time to every production cycle.

The G1X consolidates these three distinct operational modes:

Full-Color 3D Printing (Volumetric): Builds three-dimensional objects up to 150mm in height using CMYK + Double White + Water-Soluble Support + Transparent inks. Models emerge from the print bed in full color — no manual painting required.

3D-Texture Printing (Surface Relief): Creates tactile surfaces and relief effects up to 5mm in height, replicating textures like leather, wood carving, brushstrokes, and even braille.

2D UV Printing: Functions as a high-speed flatbed printer for surface decoration across over 400 substrates, including metal, acrylic, wood, glass, ceramic, leather, and plastic.

The system also supports advanced optical effects such as holographic and lenticular prints, and accessories expand capabilities to cylindrical objects (via a rotary attachment) and ultra-long format printing (via a roll-to-film attachment).

Industrial-Grade Print Technology

At the heart of the G1X is an Epson i3200 industrial-grade printhead with 3,200 high-density nozzles and an 8-channel ink system. With ultra-fine 3.9 picoliter droplets and a resolution of up to 1440 × 2400 DPI, the system captures intricate details while delivering vivid colors and smoother gradients.

Key technical specifications:

  • Over 10 million colors via an 8-channel UV ink system and advanced RIP algorithms
  • Layer thickness: 10–30 micrometers (about half the thickness of a human hair)
  • Raised texture height: Up to 5mm
  • Print speed: Up to 3× faster than desktop UV printers equipped with a single F1080 (XP600) printhead
  • Build volume (3D mode): Up to 150mm in height

The system employs Digital Material Jetting and rapid UV curing to minimize color bleed and preserve sharp edges on small parts. Water-soluble supports simplify post-processing for internal cavities and complex geometries. According to the company, printed colors offer at least three years of fade resistance.

From Dental Leader to Consumer Disruptor

Founded in Guangzhou in 2015 by a group of Chinese entrepreneurs from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, HeyGears has spent 11 years building a full-stack capability spanning optics, materials, hardware, and software. The company recently completed a $44 million (over 3 billion RMB) Series C funding round led by Junlian Capital and Dachen Capital.

With the G1 Series, HeyGears is now aiming directly at the consumer desktop market — taking on established players like Bambu Lab while bringing industrial PolyJet-style color technology to hobbyist workbenches.
