In this review we are going to test the Tronxy X5S-500 3D printer. It is a device designed with a broad base of printing and that is prepared to work with a wide variety of materials. Of course it comes in a kit to assemble oneself, which significantly reduces its price, if we compare it with other models that leave the factory already assembled.

We must say that the Tronxy X5S-500 is a 3D printer with a very good quality / price ratio, which updates and improves the Tronxy X3S. In addition, it has most of the technical characteristics that are required of a printer in its range. This Tronxy printer is based on a Cartesian design very similar to that of other 3D printing devices. The frames are made of aluminum, which gives the whole an excellent quality.

The box comes with different pieces, rods, a multitude of nuts and washers, etc. In saying, a kit with everything necessary to assemble it. If this is your first experience with this type of equipment, we already warned you that you will have to arm yourself with patience, because although the assembly is not complicated, it will require a few hours. For the Tronxy X5S -500 two Z axes are used, which give greater stability to the prints.

At your side we have a wheel that will give us the opportunity to access the menu with all its functions. So we can modify parameters such as those related to speeds, temperatures, material flow and others.

We are facing a printer somewhat heavier than usual, with about 13 kilos. One of the things we like most is its generous printing area, which reaches 330 x 330 x 400 mm. With this base you will never lack space to print what you can think of.

According to the technical data sheet of this product, you can print with a maximum speed of 150 mm/s, although obviously it will depend on the type of material that we are using. On the other hand, the extruder is 1.75 mm and comes with a nozzle that has a diameter of 0.4 mm. It must be borne in mind that the extruder is capable of operating at temperatures that can vary from 170º to 275º C. This will allow us to work with a wide variety of filaments, such as ABS, HIPS, PC, PLA, PVC, wood… In addition, It has a capacity to print layers with a thickness between 0.1 and 0.4 mm.

With these characteristics, the final result will be of great precision and quality. By including an SD card slot, we will have the possibility to work offline, without having to depend on a computer. As for the supported files, the Tronxy X5S -500 can print objects in STL and Code G. Of course you will have to use some kind of program that is compatible with this class of files. For this particular model, you can use some specialized software such as Cura and Repetier-Host.
