Today started crowdfunding new product, developed by eco-network Xiaomi. It is about the projector. The laser projector is aimed at fans of cinema. The device provides the highest image quality. Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform “Mijia” is the birthplace of many interesting products, some of which also flow directly into the Xiaomi ecosystem. Unfortunately, many of these products are still mistakenly advertised as Xiaomi products – sometimes even in test reports. The fact is that most of the products financed and offered there come from other companies.
Only in individual cases does Xiaomi take over the products or integrate them into the ecosystem – if they fit the brand. These are then usually marketed under the brand name “Xiaomi Mijia”.
One example of this is the short-distance laser projectors, which have been available from “Xiaomi” for some time now. The projectors have attracted a lot of attention because they are comparatively inexpensive and can conjure up a really large image of over 100 inches on the wall at a short distance. So far the projectors were only available with Full HD resolution.
The MIUI 4.0 user interface is implemented in the projector. It is quite often found on Xiaomi TVs. Users have access to an extensive media library. After purchasing a subscription you can enjoy watching new movies and TV series in excellent quality. The Xiaomi laser projector supports Bluetooth. There is a USB interface.
A pair of powerful speakers provides excellent sound. The developers have implemented a carefully designed security system that prevents overheating of the projector hardware modules. You can connect a LAN cable to the device. There are three HDMI 2.0 interfaces. Therefore, there is absolutely no problem with the connection.
Now the company “Shanghai Orient TV”, a subsidiary of “Shanghai Media Group, Inc. has released a new laser projector for crowdfunding on the Xiaomi Mijia platform. The project has already achieved 305% of the target and has what it takes to become part of the Xiaomi ecosystem one day.
The short distance projector looks similar to the previous projectors sold under the Xiaomi Mijia brand. A relatively compact box with an opening on the top through which the image is projected onto the wall above using a combination of DLP and laser technology.
But the new projector has some advantages to offer. It supports 4k resolution and can also display HDR10 content. The maximum image size is 150 inches and the display of 3D content should be possible. The image brightness reaches up to 1700 ANSI lumens. Integrated in the projector is a sound system with tweeters, mid-range and bass drivers and DTS support. The projector is controlled by a supplied remote control or HDMI CEC. The connectors include three HDMI 2.0b inputs, one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port each, one SPDIF port, as well as Gigabit LAN, 3.5mm AV-In and 3.5mm Audio Out. A wireless connection to the network via Dual Band AC-WLAN is also possible. As operating system Android with the MIUI TV interface developed by Xiaomi is used.
Whether the 4k laser projector will one day also be available outside of China and above all with multi-language or even Android TV is of course still completely unclear. Currently, the product is aimed exclusively at the Chinese market. However, a global version would be desirable, because the price is very fair with $2699.
According to reliable sources, the WEMAX opportunity was renamed to Fengmi. Therefore, this projector is also called: Fengmi 4K Cinema Laser Projector.
