Insta360 ONE 4K Panoramic Camera

360-degree cameras are fascinating: they film and photograph a panoramic panorama in all directions. The viewer can then freely choose the perspective and look towards the filmmaker or even his face. Samsung has the second model in the market with the Gear 360 (2017) , Garmin recently launched with the Virb 360 and GoPro is with the fusion just before launch. The company Insta360 is not so well known, but shows with the new Insta360 One also its second model. COMPUTER BILD received a test pattern directly from Shenzhen and tried it out.

Insta360 One: Camera for plugging in – The One makes at first glance quite different – and does not look like the predecessor Insta360 Air: It is no longer round and the two lenses front and rear sit not exactly opposite, but a good 1 centimeters offset in height. This difference is then the same when you combine the images to the picture. At the lower end is the SD card slot as well as a tripod thread, on the left is the recording button, on the right the Lightning plug for connecting to the iPhone. Plugged into the iPhone, first of all the quite high weight. The smartphone must also be held over the headset so that the camera does not fall off. Practical: The protective cover for the transport can also be used as a handle, simply plug the camera on. The principle one knows so similar to the LG 360 Cam, A woolen thread is also included in the delivery. A woolen thread? Rightly heard. At one end with a finger loop, at the other end an adapter for the tripod thread. The One can be attached to it and be hurled over the head in a circle. Insta360 calls the “bullet time shot”.

Insta360 One Review: Sharp sling –  Not only the hurling around attracts attention, but also the technical data and the results of the practice test are very promising. Photos saves the Insta360 One with a resolution of 24 megapixels (6912×3456 pixels), videos in 4K resolution with 3840×1920. An HDR mode for contrasting subjects is also available. The Bullet Time Shot shoots the camera at up to 240 frames per second in slow motion. The finished clip has something fascinating – like a carousel ride around the filmmaker. The recordings can be intersected with the associated Insta-360 app and distributed directly from there to the social networks. Also a 360-degree live streaming is possible. The first recordings in the practice test looked neat. Color fringes, as one knew it from the Insta360 Air, could hardly be identified. Very well liked the clear app, which partly had only slightly too long labels of the buttons. This will certainly change in the final version. Play without boundaries: recordings can be spiced up with photo filters and decorated even with embroiderers – as one knows it from Instagram.

Insta360 One Conclusion, Price and Availability – The Insta360 One has done well and is likely to convince some iPhone users. The high weight, however, makes it a somewhat copulous matter, especially since the only stop is given by the lightning plug. Pretty funny – but with the wool thread also somewhat daring – is the “bullet time shot”. The Insta360 One is available for around 360 euros. An appointment for the Android version has not yet been fixed.
