Aliexpress has an interesting new product on sale – a TV set-top box called Mecool K5, which is equipped with digital terrestrial (DTT) and satellite TV tuners and runs on the SoC Amlogic S905X3 platform. The Mecool K5 hybrid TV set-top box, in addition to a dual internal tuner for satellite and HD DTT, supports PVR recording via USB, and OScam, BISS and SoftCam, the same as the previous Mecool K7 model, which runs on the Amlogic S905X2 chip.
The new Mecool K5 TV set-top box includes the SoC AMlogic S905X3, a 12nm quad-core processor, which reaches speeds up to 1.9 GHz and contains a Mali-G31 MP2 graphics processor. This SoC has four ARM Cortex-A55 processor cores as well as an NPU for iA. Amlogic Video Engine 10 with support for HDR Dolby Vision, HDR10 +, HDR10 is used as the VPU. The novelty is available in versions with 2/4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16/32 GB of eMMc data storage, which can be extended with a micro SD memory card.
Of the network connections, Mecool K5 has Wi-Fi AC 2×2 MiMo, Bluetooth 4.2 and an RJ-45 10/100 network connector. The following connectors are located on the housing: USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0 port, SPDIF audio output, HDMI 2.1 video output, analogue audio/video output and inputs for the satellite antenna and DTT antenna.
