At the international IFA 2019 in Berlin, MINIX presented a number of new products, including the first certified Google TV box with Android TV, another TV box with a powerful SoC Amlogic S922XJ and two new mini-PCs.
The new MINIX NEO T5 TV box is powered by the Amlogic S905X2 quad-core processor with ARM Cortex-A53 cores and ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, which integrates the TruLife Gen8 VPU with enhanced HDR support for video playback. 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 16GB of eMMc memory are installed. For wireless connectivity, there is a 2 × 2 MIMO Dual Band and Bluetooth 4.2 WiFi adapter. On the plastic case there are USB 2.0 connectors, another USB 3.0, a gigabit Ethernet connector, an SPDIF-capable audio jack and an HDMI 2.0 video output.
As an operating system, this model will have an Android TV 9 Pie, which has Google and Google Chrome-cast certification, which we can use with Google applications such as YouTube (support for Netflix is not yet available, but this is the first step). It is expected that the MINIX NEO T5 will go on sale in October at a price of about $100.
