The brand OUKITEL may not be very well known among technology followers, but it is one of those that have been making low-priced and good-quality devices for a long time, both in smartwatch and in phones. Now this company launches the Oukitel W2.
The OUKITEL W2 is an elegant watch, not very functional but with a battery life of up to 15 days. It is clear that manufacturers seek different alternatives and options for users. In this case, a brand like Outkitel presents an elegant style watch, which wants to “fix” one of the biggest problems in wearables: the short duration of the battery.
One of the characteristics of the W2 is its elegance, both in its design of the case and dial, and in the calf leather strap. You can choose between 3 different models: blue, pink, black. The golden model has a pretty feminine touch.
The measures are the following:
The style as we commented is quite elegant, lightweight, and small compared to other models.
It has IP67 certificate with what we can take it on and resists sweat, rain, etc. That’s right, the belt has no such protection and should dry properly if it gets wet.
The OLED screen is 1.3 inches, and has a resolution of 240 × 240 pixels. We remember that in this device you will not be able to see photos or videos. The screen is only tactile in its lower part.
Although in its specifications says otherwise, if we have noticed that in very bright environments you can not see the screen clearly. Raising the wrist activates the screen, to see the time (you can switch between 3 different watch-faces).
The W2 clock has its own operating system (if we can call it that). You can not install new applications, and its interface is limited to move between some screens.
The Nordic NRF52832 microchip is the one with integrated Oukitel W2. Neither is a watch that needs much more requirements.
The functionality of W2 is very limited compared to other smartwatches. It integrates some related to sports activity, but in our opinion they are testimonial, since most of them must be activated manually.
If you have the classic features that the “famous” Oukitel U8 already had some years ago: call notification, notifications, and reminders.
The most important function may be that of a heart rate meter. The lower optical sensor of the W2 must be activated on your screen, once we enter it starts to give us data of the pulsations until we deactivate it.
Pedometer and step record : The W2 calculates precisely the number of steps, calories and distance traveled. We remember that it does not have GPS.
If we enter the distance screen, a game of an airplane will appear. We do not understand this inclusion very well, but hey, there it is.
Notice of call and sending notifications. As in other smartwatches we can receive notifications from our phone (remember to configure it before in the ” Hey Band ” application that you can download in Play Store on Android). There you can select which notifications you want to appear on your watch, Whatsapp, Skype, Facebook, etc. Remember that you can not answer through the clock or calls, or notifications.
One of the features that has caught our attention is the monitor of blood pressure and oxygen. After 20 seconds the clock tells us our blood pressure and oxygen level. Maybe for some users with this kind of problems it could be quite useful.
Finally we have the reminder of sedentary lifestyle and drinking ; remote camera control (you must have your smartwatch connected to the phone by bluetooth); and the sleep monitor that will tell us the quality of it, as well as the sleeping hours.
This is one of the biggest advantages of the Oukitel W2. After a charge of about two hours, wirelessly, our watch will have a battery life of up to 15 days. Although, really if you make a “normal” use, you will have to charge it approximately 40-50 days (so little is this duration wrong).
In our opinion the Oukitel W1 is too basic a smartwatch. Perhaps an option for those who want to have their first smart watch and look for a device that is not very sporty, and also lasts the battery a good time.
On the other hand, another advantage is that you have five different models to choose from, at a very cheap price, for approximately $40.
