I have had the Zealot S7 for about 12 hours at the time I am writing this review. My summary is that it is a good Bluetooth speaker but you certainly can get something better in 2020.
As a blind person who naturally loves and is attracted to rich sound output, I have long been searching in the market for a Bluetooth speaker with stereo output, good surround sound and rich output and which can play in several modes.
The S7 ticks my boxes in a number of these areas.
The S7 gives out a rich sound delivered with amazing surround output. The bass is impressive for its price range.
Unfortunately, the speaker does not play from USBs, including flash drives. The included USB port serves instead as a power bank to boost your phone's battery. But who needs a power bank in a 10,000-mAh speaker when you can buy a dedicated power bank? Certainly not me.
Also disappointingly, the S7 has no built-in FM radio receiver. This is a letdown for a radio lover like me.
I live in Nigeria where the cost of accessing the internet is still high and makes streaming radio stations especially the local broadcasters less of a preferred choice. Plus, some of the radio stations I listen to terestrially either have no online presence or are streaming in less desirable, low-quality audio.
The S7 Bluetooth speaker is however handy – feeling firm to grip, standing firmly on surfaces and smooth when touched.
Its all-touch-screen controls sadly makes the unit not so much of a great recommendation for blind persons.
In closing out my review, I must add that the package of the speaker is beautiful. It is firm, padded with foam in the interior and could serve as a gift box for the unit. It looks like I will keep my own S7 box for a long time to come!
