ILIFE X800 Robot Vacuum Cleaner with mapping turned up

The production machinery at ILIFE goes into the next round: After the recently introduced V4 and the A7 that we recently tested, a new model has already been introduced in China: The ILIFE X800 is equipped with an app control like the A7, even mapping should be possible this time.

ILIFE X800

Classification in the product range

ILIFE is one of the most active producers of household robots worldwide: with the X800, the manufacturer follows the new philosophy of bringing more powerful models to market at slightly higher prices. So that you still keep the overview between the A-, V- and X-series, here the chronological order:

  • A-Series: A4, A4S, A6, A8
  • V-Series: V1, V5, V5S Pro, V7, V7S, V7S Pro, V80 / V8S,  V7S Plus, V4
  • X Series: X5, X800

A clear technology / marketing pattern can not be recognized here, neither from the letters nor from the numbers. Only the identifier “S” and “Pro” can be found in extensions of individual suckers at the end of the product name. The X800 seems the bigger brother of the A8, but that’s not the point. After all, both have the same navigation as an assessment factor.

Design copied from iRobot?

In terms of design, the Chinese have probably stalked something in the US and used in iRobots Roombas in brainstorming. So when I discovered the vacuum robot, I thought it was a fake of American robots. Covered with an  aluminum alloy, the X800 makes a good impression both visually and (at a glance) when it comes to workmanship. Here you can count on the usual ILIFE quality again.

ILIFE X800
The design could also come from iRobot.

The charging station is identical to that of the ILIFE A6 and A7. Rightly so, after all, it is the fanciest station of the manufacturer. The camera navigation to have been developed further in comparison to that of the iLife A8 at X800. With this type of navigation, the vacuum robot orientates itself on the ceiling and orientates itself from the charging station on the basis of its movements. How exactly this affects, first experience reports must show.

ILIFE X800
The camera navigation was once an absolute hit among the robots, today the Techik continues.

The “ILIFE Robot” app ( Android , iOS ), which was first used for the A7, has confirmed our expectations that future models will also have app control in their program. The X800 remembers its route and transfers it to a map in the app. It is unclear whether the created maps can be saved and a spatial division (forbidden zones in the map draw) is possible.

Like the A7, the vacuum cleaner is again supplied with a lot of accessories, again there is a newly designed remote control, but no virtual wall for staking out areas that the vacuum cleaner should not drive off. With the dimensions 33.0 x 32.0 x 7.6 cm, the vacuum robot is quite flat and comes under many pieces of furniture. Unlike the Mi Robot, the X800 uses two brush heads on the bottom.

The first adjustable wiping function?

What sets the X800 apart from other vacuum robots is, according to the product images, an adjustable wiping function. Within the app you should be able to adjust how much the mop with the water tank presses on the ground, even of “vibration” on the floor to be cleaned is the speech. This should also set how much water (levels 1-3) from the water tank should reach the ground.

If that works in practice, it would be absolutely awesome. But you can be skeptical in good conscience, after all, we had already a variety of very weak wiping vacuum robots in our test.

ILIFE X800
On the wiping function you can be very curious.

Summary

On the first ILIFE robot with mapping you may be curious, but the wiping function is much more exciting. Finally, you can independently set how much water from the tank reaches the ground and give commands to the vacuum robot how to handle the mop? Sounds good first. When navigating with a camera, I first have to think about 2010, but a lot has happened since then. Let’s hope that ILIFE is properly involved.
