MECOOL company, which gave the world a lot of new products recently, introduced another set-top box called MECOOL KT1, which is based on the new SoC Amlogic S905X4 processor and is equipped with a DVB T2 tuner. The set-top box is certified by Google and runs the operating system Android TV 10.
MECOOL KT1 TV set-top box uses the latest generation of SoC Amlogic S905X4-B chipset as its platform, which is one of the first to have built-in support for AV1 codec. The special feature of this set-top box is the built-in DVB T2 tuner, which allows you to access all TV channels, of course, when you connect an external TV antenna. With the supplied software it is possible to tune the channels as well as to program their recording to an external USB-device. The letter “B” in the name of the processor indicates that it is certified for Dolby Audio.
The AMlogic S905X4-B SoC used in the MECOOL KT1 is a quad-core processor made with 12nm technology with low power consumption. It contains four ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2GHz and a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The VPU has support for HDR, HDR10 and HLG. The set-top box has 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and 16GB of eMMc storage, which can be expanded with a micro SD card.
The MECOOL KT1 TV box supports dual-band WiFi AC and Bluetooth 4.2. The set-top box is assembled in a plastic housing, with antenna input, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, analog AV output, RJ45 10/100 Ethernet network port and HDMI 2.1 video output on the side and rear panels.
The set-top box includes a proprietary remote control with a Bluetooth microphone, with which you can use voice search and the built-in Google Assistant. The remote control is adapted to work with the tuner and has additional appropriate buttons.
