Midea M7 Pro Robot Vacuum Cleaner

I don’t think the Midea brand needs any introduction. I suspect that you, like me, knew it as one of the biggest manufacturers of air conditioners. However, the Chinese manufacturer apparently has a range of electric appliances in its portfolio, and from 2021 it can also boast a robot vacuum cleaner. Presumably by the end of 2022 we’ll have robot vacuum cleaners from every electronics or appliance brand. But until then I suggest you see what the first robot vacuum cleaner produced by Midea promises.

Called the M7 Pro, the Chinese vacuum cleaner from Midea promises to be a more affordable competitor to the Roborock S7. Why do I say that? Because it’s one of the few (if not the only one at the moment) robot vacuum cleaners to feature a vibrating mop, a function similar to the Roborock S7.

That means it should clean up floor stains better than a classic mop vacuum, which basically just “mops” with a wet mop. The Roborock S7 has proven this feature to be effective, but whether the Midea M7 Pro will do as well remains to be seen. However, it doesn’t know how to pick up the mop when going over carpets, so for this you’re left to use the in-app setting for “No Mop” areas.

It also impresses on the cleaning side by having a suction power of 4000pa, which is more powerful than the Roborock S7. The dust container has a capacity of 450ml and the water container 200ml. The battery is 5200mAh and with a full charge it promises to run for up to 120-180 minutes (depending on the power chosen for vacuuming). If it fails to vacuum the whole area on a single charge, it returns to base when it is close to running out of battery and continues from where it left off when the battery is fully charged (it needs 2.5 hours for this).

For navigation and home mapping the vacuum cleaner uses a LIDAR sensor, so I expect it to do well in this department too. From the specs it looks like it can climb over obstacles with a maximum height of 2.2 centimeters, which is pretty good for a robot vacuum cleaner. It can remember up to 3 maps and with the app you can set a cleaning schedule, avoid certain areas or vacuum only in certain rooms. It can also be controlled via virtual assistants.
