Yes, Chinese mobile phone giant vivo announced that it will enter the European market in 2020. vivo has long been swelling its catalog with increasingly competitive models in terms of quality /price. So much so that we may be facing Xiaomi’s most serious competitor in this field, especially considering that we are talking about a brand that is already a full-fledged international. And the last of his models has already landed: vivo X50 lite is official.
The phone is located where they indicated their first leaks, in the middle range of the market. A model with a Qualcomm 665 series processor and with some quite interesting features for the price line to which it is aimed. For example, the fact of having four cameras on the back, one of them 48 megapixels signed by Samsung. Let’s see what else it has to offer us.
As we have said before, perhaps the most prominent feature of this mid-range vivo is its quadruple rear camera system. One that arrives commanded by a 48MP Samsung GW1 sensor with f/1.8 lens, which guarantees good brightness when taking pictures. Especially considering that we can choose to capture images at 8MP thanks to the Tetracell of the Koreans, pixels fused in blocks of four to trap more light.
This vivo arrives commanded by a Snapdragon 665, supported by an Adreno 610 GPU with 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM. All versions are expandable with a microSD of up to 256GB maximum. And for the battery, 5,000 mAh internal and non-removable with fast charging of 18W.
As for connectivity, we find dual 4G, with WiFi 5, with Bluetooth 5.0, with GPS and GLONASS and with a USB Type-C port. Nothing is specified about the headphone jack so we will leave it in doubt. The phone offers a fingerprint reader built into the panel, which is a 6.38-inch AMOLED with a 19.5: 9 ratio and a FullHD+ resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. The maximum brightness can convince with 800 cd/m² and the panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Netflix and Amazon Prime in HD are also no problem thanks to Widevine L1. The Waterdrop notch measures 14mm in width and extends 7.5mm into the display.
The vivo sorts itself precisely between the vivo X50E and the X50 Pro and, in my opinion, offers the most attractive price-performance ratio in the price range. I simply enjoyed the combination of the hardware in everyday life: the processor is extremely fast with Funtouch OS, the AMOLED display is colorful and amenities such as USB-C + 3.5mm, the fast biometric unlocking and the good battery life complete the package. The vivo X50 lite is definitely at the forefront of the “Smartphone Awards” for me, the Redmi Note 8 Pro does not have to hide behind a Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite.
It is a great phone matching phones twice its price. It has specifications and performance matching any phone on the market. Unless you need 5G then it would be possible the best value for money.
