The IMILAB A1 is a new surveillance camera in the Xiaomi ecosystem, compatible with the Mi Home application. It is an indoor model that, as mentioned in the title, also integrates the baby monitor function. One of the advantages of this model is that it offers free, unlimited cloud storage. This means that it can be used even without a MicroSD card. If you still want the videos to remain “private”, you can choose to store them locally, on a MicroSD card (supports up to 256GB) or even NAS.
For good quality night shooting, it is equipped with 8 940 nm infrared LEDs, offering visibility of up to 10 meters. The photo sensor is 3 megapixels, shoots at FullHD resolution and can rotate automatically from the application to 360 degrees. The viewing angle of the lens is 110 degrees.
It is not a full-fledged baby monitor, but he knows how to recognize when a child cries and automatically saves the video and sends a notification on the phone. Due to the fact that it is a rotating camera, it can be set to follow a subject that appears in the plan or to send notification only when it detects human movement.
Like many other rooms of this kind, the Xiaomi IMILAB A1 is equipped with both a microphone and a speaker, thus offering the possibility to listen to the sounds around the place where it is installed or to communicate with the people in the room.
From my point of view, its biggest advantage remains free cloud storage. The rest of the functions are also found in other models produced by Xiaomi, but for cloud storage we usually have to pay. Bonus, baby monitor function.
