The Xiaomi Mi Note 4 is apparently already in the starting blocks. With the launch of the Mi Note 3 in September 2017, Xiaomi radically changed the direction of the Mi Note series. The device was in a bit of a Mi6 with a larger display, so the perfect device for those who have always wanted a Mi6 Plus. Unfortunately, Xiaomi did not use the Global version, but there was a Global ROM that many still wish for the Mi 8 SE. Since a Xiaomi Mi 8 already has a 6.2-inch display, there is not much room for the Mi Note series here. In the middle of September this year you can already expect the presentation of the new Mi Mix 3.
In the Chinese Tenaa database, the Xiaomi Mi Note 4 appeared under the name “M1807E8A“, at least many people speculate on it. But the specifications of the entry show much more of a Xiaomi Mi 8 in the Explorer Edition. Many China manufacturers avoid the number 4, as this promises misfortune. Xiaomi is not known for this and with a Xiaomi Mi Note 5 as the successor to the Mi Note 3 should not be expected. Regardless of the questionable entry in the TENAA database, here are our expectations for the Xiaomi Mi Note 4!
Optically, the Mi Note 4 will probably stick to the Mi 8 as far as possible, so a notch is to be expected. The materials like the glass back and the metal frame belong to the obligatory program. The home button of the Mi Note 3 has to give way and the dual camera on the back side gets the vertical arrangement, as is now common with almost all Xiaomi smartphones. The camera should be the same set-up as the Xiaomi Mi 8. Experiments are carried out, if at all, with the front camera, which was inferior to the Mi 6 camera with the Mi Note 3 despite high megapixel numbers.
If Xiaomi gives the Mi Note 4 a larger 6.7 inches display, then you can also call it a Mi Max 3 Pro. An AMOLED panel is considered probable, as is an FHD+ resolution with a 19:9 or 18:9 display format. USB-Type C and no headphone connection is now common with the flagships.
Xiaomi Mi Note 4 will run on a Snapdragon 710 processor, just like Mi 8 SE. The amount of integrated memory will be 64/128 GB, and the RAM will provide 6 GB, regardless of the modification. The smartphone is also credited with a 12.0MP front-end and an NFC chip. The resolution of one of the modules of the main camera will be 20.0MP. Xiaomi Mi Note 4 will enter the market at a price of 2499 yuan or $365.
I personally find wacky design aspects like a transparent back to be absurd. However, wireless charging is within the realm of possibility and NFC support is also conceivable. Since there is only one in-display fingerprint scanner in the Explorer Edition of the Mi 8, the Mi Note 4 will hardly come up with this feature. Sensors and reception standard will be on current flagship level.
The times when Xiaomi introduces 2-3 smartphones per year are long gone. Divided into low-budget, mid-range, upper mid-range and flagships, there are several options for a Xiaomi device everywhere. The Mi Note 4 will represent the new spearhead of the upper mid-range. With a Snapdragon 710 and the Mi8 camera this should work fine and close the gap in size between the Mi8 SE and the real SD845 flagships. Whether the size of the Mi Note 4 might even go in the direction of Mi Max 3 remains to be seen.
