The Chuwi Hi13 is a comparatively inexpensive Windows tablet from China that wants to stand out from the crowd above all with a large and high-resolution display. The panel is supposed to be the same as the one used in the Microsoft Surface Book.

The case of the Chuwi Hi13 is made of aluminium, the workmanship is amazingly good. This is especially true if you keep an eye on the low price of currently around 250 euros. With a weight of 1.1 kilograms, it’s not a lightweight, but the thickness of 8 millimeters is fine. The four loudspeakers have good sound quality, but you shouldn’t expect too much from the two cameras with 2 and 5 megapixels respectively.

But the real highlight of the Chuwi Hi13 is its 13.5 inch display with a resolution of 3000 × 2000 pixels. Both the sharpness as well as the color rendering and viewing angle stability are good – not surprising, as it is supposed to be the same panel as the Microsoft Surface Book. In contrast to this, the Hi13 has a clearly visible distance between the touch screen and the IPS panel, which is why the screen reflects more strongly. In addition, there is no gorilla glass, instead a protective film protects the screen from scratches ex works.

Inside the Chuwi Hi13 is an Intel Celeron N3450 with four cores clocked at 1.1 GHz each. Together with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory, the tablet cuts a fine figure at least on paper, but due to the high resolution, the performance in everyday life is unfortunately not quite as good. However, the tablet is sufficient for working with Office, surfing the net and simple games. In Geekbench 4 it achieves 1400 and 4000 points.

The battery life is also not quite convincing: Although the Chuwi Hi13 has a 10,000 mAh strong battery, in the test it unfortunately only reached a runtime of 5 hours and 20 minutes. Even for a Windows tablet this is not a very good value.
