GPD MicroPC Pocket Mini laptop PC
The manufacturer considers it an excellent alternative to the new models of iPad and Microsoft Surface Go. On the site of Indiegogo started fundraising for a mini-laptop GPD MicroPC, which fits easily in the inner pocket of the jacket. The diagonal of his screen was only 6 inches at a resolution of 1,280 × 720 pixels. The display is protected from damage by Gorilla Glass 4 glass.
The heart of the device is the quad-core Intel Celeron N4100 processor with built-in Intel UHD Graphics 600 graphics. The amount of RAM is 4 GB (LPDDR4). The M.2 format SSD has a capacity of 128 GB, but can be replaced if necessary, expanding the memory. There is also a slot for microSD cards.
The MicroPC GPD is equipped with a complete set of connectors, which is typical of an average notebook computer. There are RJ45, a full-fledged HDMI, and, of course, several USB ports: three USB 3.0 Type-A and one USB Type-C. The RS-232 interface, or so called serial port, should be singled out separately.
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2 support is announced for wireless communications. Standalone operation is provided by a pair of built-in batteries with a capacity of 3 100 mAh each. They should provide 6-8 hours of operation. In half an hour the device is charged to 50%, and you can use for this purpose any power bank with support for Power Delivery 2.0.
Despite its minimal size, the GPD MicroPC has a full-size backlit keyboard and a small touchpad with left and right click support. Just above the keyboard unit is a switch that starts the active cooling system.
Initially, the MicroPC GPD will be shipped with Windows 10 Pro, but anyone can also download an adapted version of Ubuntu MATE 18.10.
The developers managed to collect the amount of money needed to start production in just a couple of hours. This success is due not only to the trust of users already familiar with GPD Win and GPD Win 2, but also to the very attractive price of the novelty. You can buy a GPD MicroPC only for $420.
