As the name says, The Xiaomi Mi WiFi Repeater 2 is an amplifier that increases the capacity of the WiFi signal. It is perfect for homes where the router fails to cover the entire surface. All you have to do is install it somewhere in the middle of the distance (between the router and the room where there is not enough signal) and the rest of it takes care of it.

The product comes in a plastic bag, with instructions for using the printer directly on the packaging. To work, it needs a USB port for power and Mi Home installed on your phone. Note that the application must be installed and configured on the “Mailand China” server, otherwise the product may not be detected in the application for configuration. Installation takes up to 2 minutes, as soon as the color of the LED changes from yellow to blue, it is ready for use.

You will not find too many options in the app, but just the right one. Among the few settings you find, there is also “Wi-Fi roaming,” an option that clones the name of the WiFi network to which the amplifier connects so that another WiFi network does not appear in the list.

It is useful and not too much, because at some point you will not know whether the phone is connected to the original or repeater network. I disabled this option and left another connection. All of the app you can see and how many people are connected, can support up to 16 connections at a time.

It does not overheat (so you can worry about leaving home) and so far, around 5 devices have been connected at the same time. The internet speed is pretty good, it does not disconnect, and we have not had any other problems before.

I am happy, managed to cover an area in the house where the router was not able to reach, so I can say it’s worth the money. Next I held an Asus router as a repeater, and now I’m using this little gadget.
