Does Xiaomi start the new year with fresh Redmi smartphones? Apparently, the Chinese have received a TENAA certificate for a new device. The tech community suspects the Redmi 7 behind the model number.
With the prompt launch of a Redmi 7, Xiaomi would have been back on track at the development speed. Just one year ago the Redmi 6 Pro completed the previous generation. Now the next offer for the lower middle class would be just around the corner, when the TENAA certification was actually issued for the Redmi 7. Previously, such a device with the model number M1901F7T had already been certified by its 3C approval colleagues.
The TENAA photos of the alleged Redmi 7, published by the internet among others, don’t reveal too much yet. But you can see a Notch in the water drop style, as it was last used by Huawei, Oppo or Nubia. Xiaomi had previously refrained from doing so, but now the trend could be reversed. A dual camera plus LED flash can be seen on the back, as well as a fingerprint sensor. An in-display scanner or face recognition are therefore still not possible in this device class.
When it comes to specs, the regulatory authorities are still holding back with hard facts. But the 5.84 inch display measuring 174.76 x 71.89 x 7.8 millimetres is secured – which would significantly increase the screen-to-body ratio compared to its predecessor if it were really the Redmi 7. A resolution in HD+ of 730 x 1,520 pixels is expected.
Also on the TENAA list: A dual card slot and the battery with 2,900 mAh. Should it really be the Redmi 7, its battery capacity would be somewhat lower than that of its predecessor, whose battery still held 3,000 mAh. Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 should be installed as the operating system, even if the TENAA doesn’t confirm this yet.
As the model number M1901F7T reveals, the model will be on the market next year. But when and whether really under the name Redmi 7 remains to be seen.
