In July 2016, Xiaomi surprised everyone by introducing the Redmi Pro series smartphone. As you know, the Redmi series took only budget devices under its wing, the cost of which rarely exceeds $200, and only a couple of months after the start of sales, it completely drops to $ 140-150. Despite all this, the Redmi Pro received a conditional flagship processor from MediaTek. The top modification acquired the Helio X25 chip, the configuration of which included ten cores with a frequency of 2.5 GHz. Another of the chips was a dual camera.
Just yesterday, Chinese sources said that the manufacturer is preparing for the announcement of the new model Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2, which could become the company’s best-selling smartphone next year. A few days ago, Lin Bin, president of Xiaomi, published a photo of the back side of one of the future devices and said that his announcement would take place in January 2019. As it turned out, this model may not be the flagship of Xiaomi Mi 9, but called the Redmi Pro 2.
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will receive a 6.21-inch display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. Characteristics of the matrix are the same as in the flagship Mi 8, but it will be performed by IPS technology, and not AMOLED. The heart of Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 mobile platform. The CPU is based on Kryo cores with a peak frequency of 1.7 GHz (energy efficient unit) and 2 GHz (productive cluster). The processor supports artificial intelligence algorithms, Quick Charge 4+ fast charging and cameras with a maximum resolution of 48.0MP.
Most insiders report that the Samsung S5KGM1 image sensor will be installed in Xiaomi Redmi Pro, not the Sony IMX586. The fundamental difference between the two is that the Samsung sensor does not support optical image stabilization. For this reason, it is slightly cheaper than the IMX586.
Currently there is no information about how much memory the smartphone will receive. But it is already known that the cost of Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be about $190, and I think it will be a price killer.
