Lately, we’ve been talking a lot about Xiaomi (yes, more than usual) and it’s because it keeps coming up with new terminals and the leaks they’ll be coming up with are becoming more and more frequent. Last week we saw the Xiaomi Black Shark officially launched, but at the end of March, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S was also launched. Today, we see how a new terminal of the company has passed through Geekbench and supposedly, will be the Xiaomi Redmi 6A.
It seems that Xiaomi has no problem in presenting the terminals of a particular range and shortly after, renewing the low range of this family. We are referring to the Redmi, who are all currently on number 5: Redmi 5A, Redmi 5A Plus, Redmi 5, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus and Redmi Note 5. While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 was introduced before the MWC, the Redmi 5A has been around since November, so its renewal is getting closer and closer, which makes us assume that this filtered phone is the Xiaomi Redmi 6A.
We recently talked to you about the possibility of Xiaomi working with MediaTek processors on their devices again. We don’t know why it could stop being limited only to Qualcomm processors as it has been doing all these years, although in such a large and popular company, they will have their reasons for doing so and the Xiaomi Redmi 6A could be one of the first terminals of the firm to use processors manufactured by MediaTek again.
This decision may be influenced by the fact that at low prices, it is more common for MediaTek processors to be more powerful than Qualcomm’s, so the company’s low-end and mid-range-oriented terminals may be the ones that will eventually work with these processors. The first terminal to implement it would be the Xiaomi Mi 6X, from which we have received multiple leaks and which is close to being introduced.
Specifically, we’re talking about the Xiaomi Redmi 6A because of a leak from a new Xiaomi terminal after it passed through Geekbench, revealing some of its features. The code name is Xiaomi Cereus, but its characteristics show that it is a terminal oriented to the entry range, and today, the lowest range of Xiaomi is the Redmi “X “A. This terminal, will include a processor signed by MediaTek, the MT6765, of eight cores at 2.0 GHz and there is still no more data about it because it has not been presented.
Accompanying this processor, we have 3 GB of RAM, which is not crazy, but it is an increase from the 2 GB of RAM that we used to see in the low end terminals of Xiaomi. With results of 745 for single-core and 3562 for multi-core, this new Xiaomi processor comes close to the results we saw on the Snapdragon 660 which will include the Motorola Moto G6 Plus which also passed through Geekbench recently. If we are finally in front of the Xiaomi Redmi 6A, we will see how it arrives with Android 8.1 Oreo inside under the MIUI customization layer.
