KUGOO S1 Folding Electric Scooter

The Kugoo S1 / E-TWOW? we were waiting for an electric roller like a messiah. Equipped with cheap, superb technical parameters, folding and folding the steering wheel, everything is given to be the competitor of Ninebot Segway ES1 and Xiaomi M365. The $334.99 device came from a Polish warehouse, so we received the package in 3 days at no extra cost.

Every electric roller comes in a big box of pigs, and this is no different. However, it does not matter how the content is organized and the protection solution ensures the integrity. In the case of Kugoo S1, two styrofoam elements were broken, and I’m not sure that it did not work for the future.

You will be surprised to find that the most important element of the box is the roller, which is complemented by a 1.5 A charger and a not very well-written description. I think it is important that an object that is intended to take it from A to B should be of good quality. I am not a manic man, but if I buy something, I like to give it a sense of indestructibility.

The frame is definitely the same, but the electronics are different, the on-board computer is different and it doesn’t behave like I tried E-TWOW. However, the rest of the details are ghostly similar, only the coloring is different, but don’t get stuck.

For the first time I discovered a lot of quality defects on the frame. Fast binders for cable routing, glue gun fasteners, cheap materials around the wheel, rattle-moistening elements on the go.

The plastic around the board in the middle of the steering wheel is of poor quality and the closing of the handrail arms does not promise eternal life. However, there are also fine-tuning solutions, such as the three-position steering wheel, which is important not only for users of different heights, but also in the trunk of almost every car. Portability is further enhanced by the 10.8 kg weight, which is one of the lightest among such scooters.

Lamps and shock absorbers are also available at the front and back, making the rear concrete hard and not adjustable. There is a simple reason, the vehicle can be loaded up to 120 kg instead of the usual one hundred limit. I think this is quite realistic, but in return, the spring is very rigid, which makes the wheels of solid rubber bounce, so the Kugoo S1 is the pickup of the rollers.

I don’t know if my dear readers know the NVH word, which consists of the abbreviation of “noise, vibration, harshness” and used by car manufacturers. Its essence is to express how irritating a vehicle is, how much noise it is driving, or what kind of vibrations occur on the structure.

In the case of Kugoo S1, the creators certainly did not think much about “NVH” because it is bad in S1, which I really liked in Ninebot Segway ES series, that it is a kind of cultured “well-assembled” swing that here no trace. What you know is crawling, moving or crawling, and you can enjoy it all on the go.

Here are some examples of what I had to do with my problem: the brake is hard to feed or not, but if it does, it is on the roller that we almost do the non-existent windshield. The display is like having a watercolor drawing on the plastic plexus, and I could still list it.

Anyway, the on-board computer is an interesting part of the electric roller, because the power button on the specimen that we visited was a contact failure. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. As in the case of old socialist vehicles, I got one over and the mistake was over. Next time I didn’t want to turn it on, I shook the government, it was already working. Surreal, but in 2019 we can still use the tricks of the 80s TMK. Since then, however, readers have indicated that they are working perfectly, so it is almost certainly a unique mistake.

Still, my steering wheel mechanics is my favorite. I developed the technique for two days, so I could close it every time. Take the right foot to the tip – kicking off the cap on the wrong spot – and with the bottom of our foot we staple the clamp while pulling the steering wheel forward and the compact Kugoo S1 is ready. I wouldn’t call this a mistake, just to figure out how the creators thought.

The good news is that there are the lovable parts of the machine. One of these is the charge indicator, which draws not only the usual notches, but also writes the exact voltage value for the century, which is more expressive than the conventional solution. The duda – which every roller should be obligated to do – is more like an electric whistle and not too loud, but at least it is. I liked the folding steering wheel too, very practical, and the tram doesn’t make him happy-unhappy. The Bluetooth module is missing, so it is not in the application, we can only track things on the LCD screen.

There is a cruise control that can be fixed by keeping the gas running longer, or by limiting the speed to another switch by 15/20/25 km / h. The LED light is good, it helped a lot in the twilight, and overall the performance is fine. The roller starts as a devil, noticing the usual 250, but a 350 W resource under the front wheel, the Ninebot Segway ES1 beats into the kenter. The ultimate speed is theoretically 30 km / h, 28 I’ve already gone with it, so the factory data is believable.

The range was measured on a flat road at a steady speed of 20 km / h, so the 22 km came out. This is below the factory’s 30, but the reference Chang is only 60 kilograms, and I’m 83, and the temperature was not ideal, so I think it’s a very good result, the same Ninebot Segway ES1 was only 17-18 km. Interestingly, if we lose the gas, the engine runs freely, the engine brake does not turn on as with other rollers.

Kugoo S1 is a less successful E-TWOW copy with some quality errors. Locally, we encountered manufacturing inaccuracies – inadequate painting, rattling parts – or inadequate details such as the LCD display. Unfortunately, the running gear, as they should, is not so cumbersome on the road, so we can expect a rather “shaky” drive, but it can carry more than 20 kg more than usual.

There are, however, one or two details that are particularly good, such as the battery charge indicator, the collapsible steering wheel, or the range. It goes well and the hills also make the hills quite good, so if you are over 70 kg, you will not have any other test items available today. However, if you are willing to spend more, take a Ninebot Segway ES2 or an Xiaomi M365 Pro, but the first roller to the $334 Kugoo S1 is not a bad choice, especially from a Polish warehouse, so in a few days receive.

Information update: In June 2019, its upgraded version Kugoo S1 Pro went on the market.
